S.E.M.R.A. Training

South East Mountain Rescue IrelandWhen accepted as a trainee with S.E.M.R.A., you undertake a twelve month training program in our B.M.R.C.S. (Basic Mountain Rescue Competency Scheme).

There are fourteen modules in the B.M.R.C.S. : -

  5. Communications
  6. Search
  7. First Aid
  8. Rescue
  9. Ropework
  10. Helicopter Operations
  11. Documentation
  12. Equipment Stores
  13. Vehicles
  14. General Team Knowledge
There is an ongoing assessment system in some modules with a Final Assessment in the remaining modules when the course is completed, all of which have to be passed before entry to the Active team. This B.M.R.C.S. only gives you the basics and further continuous training will be undertaken.

There are also monthly hill exercise days with the team which complement the B.M.R.C.S. program and other activities which help give trainees a better understanding of how S.E.M.R.A. work together as a team.

Your first twelve months in S.E.M.R.A. is a getting to know you, getting to know us period.
